A bit more than a year ago I was having some issues with the remote / IR receiver that seemed to partially be related to my plasma TV. Outlaw looked at it and couldn't reproduce the problem, but replaced a couple things anyway (?).

Now the remote doesn't work at all -- neither my Harmony remote or the stock remote that came with the 950. Have tested with fresh batteries, no luck. It doesn't work even with the TV off, so something is clearly messed up.

When I was looking into this issue before, I think people mentioned it was possible to hook up an external IR receiver? Any suggestions on what to get?

If your universal remote offers it, I would suggest using RF instead of IR coming from the remote to a RF receiver that then converts the RF signal and sends it out through its IR repeaters that are attached to your various components. I do not believe RF receivers are much different in cost than an IR receiver. In any event, I did this and it works so good that my 5 year old son loves to run around the house and turn on or off the system!

Ed.

Alas, my remote does not support RF. I need an IR extender for the 950 that would be resistant to interference from the plasma TV, as I can't really move my 950 any further away.
