Announcing the Marantz AV 7005: Processing Power from the Posse!

As you may have read in the Saloon, we're hard at work on our next surround processor which will be based on a 100% ground-up Outlaw-exclusive design that will not be available from any other company. However, due to the changes required to make it the "audiophile-grade" product you expect, the introduction date has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2011. With the upgrade bug biting many of you who simply can't wait to upgrade your current system, we realized that an interim option was required. Having looked at everything available in the market today, it quickly became apparent that we didn't need to go any further than our relationship with Marantz.

We are pleased to announce that the Outlaws are one of a select group of on-line retailers authorized to sell the new AV 7005. This advanced processor is one of the most highly anticipated new products of the season, and as you will see, while we couldn't change its feature package, we have been able to put an Outlaw spin on it with significant additional value.

Introducing the Marantz AV 7005

To anyone who follows the forums and home theater enthusiast press, this product needs no introduction. For those not familiar with the AV 7005, a full description of its features and capabilities may be found here.

In brief, it is a music and home theater fan's dream. The six HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs are Version 1.4a with 3D, Audio Return Channel, Deep Color, x.v. color, Auto LipSync and CEC control, backed by 10-bit video processing. There is also a complete suite of composite and component video inputs and a full array of digital and analog audio inputs. Once an input is selected, all the latest high bit rate decoding and processing options including Dolby ProLogic IIz are there, along with Audyssey MultiEQ XT, Audyssey DSX and Audyssey Dynamic Volume to optimize your listening environment. To provide a perfect match to your existing amplifier, or with a new Outlaw amplifier, there are both balanced and standard 7.2 audio outputs, fed by high-end DACs . The AV 7005 even offers a phono preamp and on-board HD Radio as well as Sirius-ready capability to compliment its standard AM/FM tuner.

The AV 7005's outstanding performance with digital audio and video sources is matched only by its flexibility to support additional sources and connectivity. It is DLNA-compatible to access content on your home network and, with a broadband connection, you may reach out to the internet to access content from thousands of internet radio channels, still images from Flickr, or the vast variety of audio tracks from Napster, Pandora or Rhapsody. Audio file and JPEG still image playback is also possible from a USB drive; you can even do both at the same time for a slide show with music!

Additional new technology sources include direct USB connection for your iPod and playback of streaming content from any Bluetooth equipped phone or player when you use the optional RX-1010 Bluetooth module. Zone 2 connectivity is not only audio but either composite or component video as well, and you may control the entire unit via the RS-232 port with many of the leading control systems. If programming is your "thing," download the remote codes and write your own control program. To read about these and many other features visit our AV 7005 product page.

The Outlaws' Guide to the Marantz AV 7005

While the feature list is lengthy and impressive, we also recognize that for some of you, it may be just a bit daunting. That's why we continue our tradition of "The Outlaws' Guide to..." manuals that make the non-Outlaw products we sell easy to use and install. Our friends at Marantz have read The Outlaws' Guide to the Marantz AV 7005 and agree that it makes installing, calibrating and using this advanced product even easier.

As with our other Guides, everyone is free to download it, but printed copies are only available when you purchase an AV 7005 from the Outlaws. Creating this Guide has given us an intimate working knowledge of the AV 7005, assuring you that our support for it will be second to none, unmatched by any on-line merchant. We are ready to answer any of your questions from the first day the product ships.
