I have a 1070 and run my audio and video from my LG plasma through the 1070 via optical and DVI inputs. I have an intermittent dropout of audio and sometimes video signal which results in an appx 2-3 second dropout with return of the signal.
I have Comcast cable and the signal is lower than it should be (i.e. 32 signal strength when it should be at least 34.....according to Comcast). I have other televisions in the house that do not have this problem. I have not disconnected my 1070 from power but will try that tonight. Has anyone had this problem and if so what should I do to alleviate this problem? Thanks to everyone for advice.

Can you get a signal booster from ComCast? I sometimes had audio dropouts on DirecTV but I had them tune the dish and Voila!! no more issue.

Comcast has added the booster.....still have the same problem. After reading the forum last night after my post I discovered that several people have complained about this problem. I have not updated my firmware for the 1070 so I will try that next......

I have noticed that almost all of my issues with audio are on the network channels and always on HD broadcasts. CBS and NBC seem to have the most problems especially on NFL broadcasts. I generally put it doen to the mobile trucks they are outputting from.

I doubt that the broadcast source is the problem as that would probably effect all broadcast venues an I haven't encountered the problem using Charter( not that I'm a big fan of Charter ). I would suspect Comcast.

I have also noticed that most of the time the problem occurs with HD programs. When the audio drops out I noticed that the display on the 1070 switches from optical to analog and from dolby digital to dolby plx.....if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it....thanks

The problem itself is with your cable signal. The HD signals show it most easily because they are using the most bandwidth and are most sensitive to signal strength problems. Digital SD channels are going to be a bit less sensitive, and the "analog" stations (the ones that are available with and without a cable box) will be the least sensitive. If your other TV's are set up without cable boxes or with non-HD boxes, it's to be expected that the HD setup shows the problem the most.

There's a setting on the Model 1070 called "auto polling" that can be enabled or disabled for each input. It will cause the receiver to switch over to analog audio when digital is not available. Try disabling it for your cable box input. That should significantly reduce the amount of time that the 1070 needs to recover from these cable signal drop-outs.

Thanks Gonk......I assume that I should do this with the OSD via the Main Menu......is that correct? Is there a way to disable the auto polling via the unit's display without using the OSD? Is the auto polling a feature that I can easily find? Thanks for your help......

The 970's menu is displayed on the front panel as well as on-screen. If you go to the INPUT CONFIG menu, pick the input you are interested in, and look about half way down the menu for that input, you will find a setting called AUTO POLL that you can change from ON to OFF. It must be done for each input individually. See page 25 in the Model 970's manual.
