Not sure why the two they sent didn't work. Glad yours did, boblinds. Checking the specs and pic of the link I sent above it shows outputs for Out#1 and Out#2 in toslink and coax.

I'll need to see an owner's manual, but if this will carry SACD over the coax or toslink then I don't need to be concerned about having a TV on in otfrt to get the SACD dignal over HDMI....which a friend told me he could not do. Had to have TV on.
So I guess that's a handshake issue. Yes?

Nothing will output SACD over coaxial or optical. It's not allowed by the SACD spec. Very few digital connections are approved for SACD, and they all include some form of copy protection (IEEE-1394, proprietary schemes like DenonLink, and HDMI being the best examples).

There are no guarantees. It can work, but it depends on how the player, receiver/processor, and display interact via HDCP.
