I've been doing some level matched comparisons between the Outlaw Bookshelves and Totem Acoustics Mani-2 ($4500 the pair) and will say that other than the deep bass, which the Totems have in spades, the Outlaw holds its own. In fact, tonally, they are very, very similar. When crossing over the Outlaw at 80 to a high quality sub, the differences are hard to discern.

They both are very smooth, do very well with the human voice, image beautifully (both laterally and depth wise), and can be listened to for hours on end (no listening fatique here). And yet, they both portray a tremedous amount of inner detail that holds your interest in the music. At $1000 the pair, the Outlaw is a tremedous achievement: true high end sound and build quality at a very reasonable price.

One other thing: the Outlaw sings with inexpensive amplifaction: I've had excellent sound using a Panasonic SA-XR57 receiver. The Totem needs a hefty 300 into 4 to sing (the Outlaw Monoblocks do them proud).
