Talked with Chet and based on my room dimensions...he's saying a SuperCube1 would be more than enough for me. Still debating Def Tech sub v.s. SVS ?

D. Rowe - I'd be very interested to hear what you decide to do. I'm running the same speaker set-up as you have with an Outlaw 1050 receiver in a very small room. I'd sure like to know what differences you notice in going to either more power or a separate sub (or both!).

If you think of it, please post a follow up. I can't offer much input on wiring or cross-over settings - I just haven't had time to experiment.

Badger...I recently sold a Velodyne SPL-1000 so I appreciate what a seperate sub can do for our speaker set up. Since I currently have power (85x5) with my old Pioneer Receiver I think the first thing for me to do is to get a new sub so that I can take advantage of the LFE signal. I truely miss it. Right now without a sub I have my 950 setting as follows for each Def tech..

2006's set to LARGE (full signal+LFE)
CLR2300 set to SMALL (Crossed @ 40HZ)
BPX's set to SMALL (Crossed @ 60HZ)

When I decide on a sub I will experiment with my 2006's...first seting them to SMALL and cross them over @ 40Hz. Then I'll try them LARGE and decide which scenario sounds better.

Next step is to get the 755 Amp and then I will truely have exactly what I want. I'll go with PCA interconnects from my 950 to the 755 and may change my speaker wire for all my fronts.

After that it's time to start thinking about 7.1 and then maybe 7.2 (7 speakers and 2 subs).

How do you like your DEf Tech's with the 1050?

Thanks for the reply D. Rowe. Just out of curiousity, can you tell me a bit about your the room you're using your system in?

My room is very small - roughly 12' x 12'. I bought the Def Tech system after originally planning on just adding a subwoofer to my old no-name speaker set-up. The 2 8" subwoofers in the 2006's were a huge improvement over what I had, but have still wondered about the benefits of yet another, separate subwoofer. I'm sure there's room for improvement on the bottom end, but the 2006's can already bounce me out of the room.

The Def Techs seem to get along well with the 1050. Powerwise, I have plenty of room left with the 1050. It seldom sees the volume indicator over 40. I'm happy with this set-up, which is a good thing, since I expect to have it for quite some time.

Our HT Room is in our finished basement. The room is 22 X 13 with the only opening being the stairwell. I recently sold a Velodyne SPL-1000 and can say that without the LFE dedicated channel...I am totally missing out. The 2006's go low, no doubt, but the 8" subs will start to struggle with material under 40Hz...and even moreso under 30Hz. I love the 950 and wish I had the dough to go for the 755. (patience). My intention is to purchase a sub and then set the 2006's to SMALL crossing them with my 950 @ 40Hz. Will experiment with them set to LARGE too. Same goes for my CLR2300. BPX's are crossed @60Hz and this seems to be right on. The DEf Tech's will be very efficient with this material and the sub can deal with the rest. This means the sub I choose should really only be dealing with material under 60Hz that my Def tech's will not get and the LFE channel signal. I cannot wait to get set up with a sub again. Finally the 755 will be the icing on the cake.
