My Martin Logan Center Speaker makes a high pitch sound (very low level) about 2-3 minutes after my system is turned off. It last for 5-10 seconds. I assume this is caused by the power being disspated as the 7500 amp I have turns off ( capacitor) discharge. This occurs when the Cinema i speaker is attached to any of the 5 output channels.

I do not hear this from any other speaker in the system (ML Vantages, NHT rear surrounds).

All speakers sound fine when operating.
Is this normal and what is causing it?

I can hear this also from my Polk mains, very, very faint though. I assume that it is just normal capacitor discharge. I think that it actually sounds pretty cool, but I think that it is normal.

Is your center bi-amped? If I biamp my paradigm studio 60's using 4 amps from the 7125 it whistles when I shut it down. It sounds like a police siren about 20 seconds after I shut off the amp.

It doesn't do this if I use one amp per speaker.

May I suggest you ask outlaw-tech support and then decide.

I got this from Scott-so now I know.

"Thanks for contacting the Outlaws!

What you are hearing is the sound of the capacitors discharging. Some speakers are more sensitive to reproducing this sound than others. it is entirely harmless and will not impact your speakers performance.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks and regards,

Scott"
