Yeah,I got the 22awg and the hdmi/dvi adapter - works great with the exception of the length - which actually is only a problem for the DVD (Good excuse to get a new one). The HD DVR seems OK.
(On a side note, the audio does go thru the 990 to the TV! I have hdmi input on the TV and output on the HD DVR, and with the dual link DVI adapter, the audio passes right througn the 990. Pretty Cool.)

smile A second source of confirmation for this. We had someone else here a while back who was troubleshooting some other HDMI-related problems and reported this very same thing. It only worked when using dual-link DVI, but it is a slick little trick.

I'll order HDMI coupler monoPrice and try that.

If the problem occurs when using the coupler I will order a short cable.

If the problem does not occur when I use the coupler I will call Outlaw.

I'm hoping that it will be the former. If purchasing a shorter cable can make my problems go away I'd be quite happy.

Problem solved - my HDMI cable was too long (or the AWG too high). In any case, I went to the 22awg 25 foot cable from ehdmi.com and the problem is now fixed (1080p is working fine).

Thanks for your help gonk & taylor.
