Hello,

I don't have a surround speaker system yet, so for now my 970 only needs to run in stereo.

When I change channels on my cable box, the 970 won't stay in stereo mode. It changes to surround mode, and I have to grab the remote and change the audio back to stereo. It does this on several, but (curiously) not all channels.

How can I make the 970 stay in stereo mode across all TV channels?

Thanks!

Do you have the other speakers disabled? If you do, the 970 should still downmix even when the incoming source is Dolby Digital. In that case, the 970 would still say "Dolby Digital 3/2.1" for 5.1 inputs because it is identifying the format of the incoming signal, but when it displays "Dolby Digital" as the processing mode it should still be downmixing to stereo without you having to request "stereo". The reason that this would happen is that only a few stations pass Dolby Digital (either 2.0 or, if you have HD, 5.1), while others do PCM stereo.
