I have an SMS-1 and am expecting my Anthem D2 to arrive soon. It is my understanding the the subwoofer outputs (2) on the Anthem are in stereo. What does this do to my SMS-1 calibration strategy for my two sub set up?
TIA

I thought the extra sub and center outputs were just parallel outputs (no different than the original output). If this is the case, plug them both in and adjust the signal via the SMS-1. It's really your only choice even if they are stereo outputs as well unless you want to buy another SMS-1 and tailor the sound of each sub separately.

There's a bit in Outlaw's SMS-1 guide specifically about stereo subs and the SMS-1 (under tips and tricks, page 28, under "deciding when to get multiple SMS-1's"). However, from what I'm seeing in the D2 manual (page 20, specifically), it's not really a concern in this case because the two sub outputs on the D2 do not appear to be stereo. There's a place in the speaker setup screen where you can specify "1 sub" (a single subwoofer that gets bass from small speakers and the LFE track), "1 super" (a single sub that gets bass from both small and large speakers as well as LFE - the same as the Model 990's "L/R+Sub" setting), "2 sub" (the same as "1 sub" except that it reduces the level at both outputs to compensate for the additional subwoofer), and "2 super" (same as "1 super" but with the levels decreased). In that case, you could simply set the D2 to "1 sub" and connect a single sub cable to the SMS-1. You could then connect both subs to the SMS-1's outputs.

Hmmm..the sales guy told me they were stereo.

Thanks Doug & Gonk. I have a feeling when I get this thing it will be fun to set up. That makes sense just to have the second hooked up to the SMS. That's how I have it now.

Hmmm... Sounds like your sales guy may not be the best resource for questions on how to get the D2 set up. It should be a lot of fun to tinker with, though - the D2's a very powerful piece of electronics.

He actually did say he was new laugh but there are plenty of knowledgeable people there. I am not so sure it was a good thing for me to find this store. They have REALLY expensive things. I may have to go work there to support my habit.

Feel free to ask me any questions wingnut. I have read the manual front to back many times (as I always do when I am eyeing anew piece of gear and slobbering over it while saving the dough to purchase laugh ) and have been through setup myself and have spent 4-5 hours playing around in it. I am almost ashamed to mention it shocked , but it was a little intimidating setting the unit up at first as there are so many options I am not used to seeing on a pre/pro.

Now that I have things dialed in, I save the settings in the "installer settings." This way, I have the basic setup saved here and can tinker more as I desire and save the tinkering to the "user settings" and still have the availabilty to go back to the original basic settings I created at any time.

Well I tried to hook up my subs to the SMS-1 last night and it seems that the SMS is not working. I have one sub out from the D2 into the input and 2 lines out to my subs.

The Self EQ seems to work ok and has an ok corrected chart but when I go to do the manual eq I am not getting the same chart the self eq just showed me. I know that the self eq is louder but the manual eq chart shows different peaks, nulls etc.
When I try to adjust the sliders they also have no effect at all. The graph stays the same.
I also noticed that after a while in manual mode one of my subs switched off (on auto detect).???
