so i've had great luck with the sms-1 until i blew my just received vtf3-ho. currently i'm using twin rocket ufw-12's with the gain set at half and volume on the sms-1 between 9-20 depending on how loud i have my main speakers set at. my 990 trim for my sub is set at zero.

so i eq the HO the same way i did the ufw's except that the gain on the HO is set much lower and the volume on the sms-1 is set at like 2 or 3. 990 volume is at -10. throw in fight club and jump to the plain crash scene...ahhh the sound of a popping aluminum can. frown

any thoughts, opinion on how you run your setup, etc.

much appreciated.

For what it's worth, I've got an Outlaw LFM-1 with the sub amp's gain around 1/2, the 990's sub trim at 0dB, and the SMS-1's volume around 12.

well it turns out it was probably a driver issue.

gonk,

do you ever run your volume higher than that? i can use a range of 9-21 depending on my 990 volume.

I have been leaving mine alone at 12, but I've always been one to dial my sub in to a sweet spot for my preferences and leave it there (although I've got a few dB of two-channel sub offset set in the 990). I'm sure I could vary it in a similar range to yours depending on the source material being used at the time, but I typically don't choose to.
