So when I first hooked up my DVD player's digital audio to the 1070 I used a Mogami 75 Ohm video cable. I lived with that for a few months and didn't really consider it while the 1070 was breaking in. The sound was a bit bright through my definitive speakers so I swapped those for some Polk towers I had on hand and those seemed like a better match. Still if I went too high on the volume it got a bit harsh sounding. After a month or so I was a bit concerned about that brightness and hoped it wasn't just me.

Then one day I was bored and noticed how much spare silver wire I had on hand. So I made a copycat of Kimber AGDL and replaced the Mogami.

KAPOW!!!

The sound changed in several ways:
- Tighter and deeper bass
- A deeper and wider soundstage
- much better clarity; instruments sounded more real
- dynamics that'll make you jump
- and that harshness/ brightness was cleared up almost completely.

The lesson learned...

Use a high quality digital cable and the 1070 will show you what it can really do. Sure you can pay more for more refinement, but for under a grand the 1070 is a giant-killer!
