I was wondering if anyone has the AR HC6 speaker system hooked up to the 1050? If so I was curious on how it performs. I am waiting to recieve both the 1050 and the Ar's.I was looking to purchase Energy's Take 5 system, but I could'nt pass up the deal I got on the HC6's. I have read numerous reviews on both systems and heard only good things on both. Although I have read one review in which the HC6 sub has some sort of shut off problem during movies, anyone else hear about this? Thanks

Not specifically, but I've heard of some subwoofers with 'auto-off' circuits that were a bit too aggressive and shut them off too soon or when some signal was present, but low, like in dialog heavy sections. I've never had any isues with it, but I've never used this sub either.

I had a sub that had auto shutoff and it was a pain in the butt. In bass passages when it came on it was always a fraction of a second late, making movie experiencing not enjoyable. (It was off a lot of times during quite passages) Luckily it had a hard switch on, bypassing the auto. I would look for a sub that has the constant on switch rather than the auto on. I believe most subs may have this.
To me it isn't a problem turning the subwoofer off or on, manually.

I did have that problem at first, but it seemed to stop. Once in a while, the sub will turn off with an audible 'bloomp' (during quiet passages) but nothing that sounds destructive.
No problems when it turns back on.
It seems to be ok if the volume is in the 40 or more range on my 1050(I've been saving my pennies for a SVS sub and am now drooling as I type).
Since I got the system at really good price on Ebay, I wasn't too upset about the sub, which really kicks butt when cranked. Where did you get your HC6, Ducktape?

I got the HC6 from etronics, I think I paid $380. I got them hooked up to my old Phillips digital reciever and I love them so far. I too have that sub shut off problem. I also have another problem in the fact that I live in a condo and might not even get my 1050 to 30 without the cops comin over. I can live with it for now though.
I was wondering, is there any way to bypass that auto off on the sub?

I have just installed a new 1050 with HC6 and a DCM Time Window as rear surround. I cannot get the 1050 to recognize the rear surround. Have you had any similar problems?

No problems here. If anything I find myself trimming the surrounds way down, too much action coming from back there.

What do you mean by 'recognize'?

Sorry for the computer jargon. In this case the center surround does not show on the 1050's graphic display nor receive any signal during the test mode.

I haven't calibrated a 1050 in a while, but I think you just need to hit the "Surround 6.1" button to turn on the surround back speaker (assuming it is also turned on in the speaker setup) for it to get a test tone and show up on the front display.

You have to be listening to a Dolby Digital 5.1 data stream and you have to make sure you set the center rear as either small or large, not off, as Gonk suggested.

Also the 'other' modes like DTS , ProLogic and the DSP stuff won't use the center rear, and when in these modes the trim isn't available.
