Hello all,

I'm thinking about buying the lfm-1 or 2, haven't decided yet. My main speakers are Quad 21-L's, which are bi-wired, and my amp doesn't have a subwoofer out option, so if I were to get a subwoofer, I'd have to:

1) connect from the amp speaker out terminals to the subwoofer's high-gain speaker "in" terminals

2) bi-wire from the subwoofer, not the amp.

I've not actually seen anyone address (2) above. Does it make any difference? Will I lose the ability to bi-wire if I have to go through the sub, or will everything sound as it did before (except that I'd now have deep bass?)

Thanks for any info on this.

There's no problem with bi-wiring downstream of the sub. I think you could do either - add another set of speaker cables from the left and right channels to the sub, or move the speaker cables from the amp to the sub and add a pair of cables from the left and right amp outputs to the sub. The first option may be the most convenient if the sub's not going to be located near the equipment rack (less running back and forth with speaker wire), while the second option lets the sub's crossover work with both the signal used by the and the signals going to the speakers.

I hope your biwire issue was resolved with Gonk's reply.

As to your original point about choosing the LFM1 vs. the LFM2, I personally use the LFM1 with a pair of Quad 11Ls and am very happy with the combo.

How do you like your 21s? I've heard great things about them. Are you using any of the other speakers from the L series for surround?
