Not a hairbrained thought at all, Koyann. Europeans are capable of using the PS3 and it’s upscaling abilities to watch free tv and simultaneously use it as a DVR if wanted. Puts out 1080. Even more impressive, they can use the portable playstation to watch their dvr content or live tv from anywhere with a wi-fi connection. Google “play tv” if you want to check it out, it’s interesting stuff. Not available in the U.S., something to do with signal format or something. Probably bureaucratic crap preventing it from coming here.
We’ve been happy with ps3’s upscaling/picture improvement abilities. Older dvd players on the same hdtv make dvds look almost as bad as standard def cable tv. Ps3 makes these same discs look MUCH better. I’d love to figure out how to get my cable box running thru it, but don’t think it’s possible. Not yet anyways.
