I'm not sure that my OSD is working correctly on my 990. I used to have a 1070 and when I was watching a DVD and I changed the volume, the OSD was visible via the TV. Both component video and s-video were attached between 1070 and TV. Now that I have the 990, I believe it has the same connections, but there is no volume showing up on the TV as it did on the 1070. I was curious as to why and if there is anything I can do to bring the OSD back.

I think with the 1070, you were actually watching the s-video input rather than the component. With the 990, you are watching the component (which is the preferred approach in either case). Neither the 1070 nor the 990 produce on-screen pop-ups (volume change, input, and such) with component inputs.

I'm searching the past threads now but can someone answer me this. I'm in the process of switching my video cables from S-Video to component on my 990. Will I get any OSD using component out? I thought the missing OSD was only DVI.

The component output will offer the setup menu with any analog video input (s-vid, composite, or component). It will provide the "pop-ups" (volume, input, and such) only with s-video and composite inputs because it doesn't draw on-screen data over component inputs.
