I recently purchased a pair of Paradigm Studio 40 v.2's. I like the sound when I listen to music in 2 channel. When I watch movies I think there is some low end missing. I am now in the market for a sub and would like to know what to look for. My room is 15'x18' with 12' ceilings. I have a Studio CC and SA-30R for the surrounds. Thanks in advance for the help.

If we could only get the Outlaws to give us more information on the LFM-1 ... we might have something for you... the basic specs were for it to be flat at 20dB (in a corner placement) with 300W of power...sounds good to me...need more info!

You will get a hundred and one different answers to that question. It's like asking for a favourite flavour of ice cream or brand of beer! Why not just stick with Paradigm? They make very good subs. Otherwise, there's lots to choose from out there. Not to mention the whole discussion on multiple subs etc.

Bbusse125,

What price range are you considering?

If money is no object, it is easy to recommend such-and-such company's top of the line model with servo feedback and built in digital amp.

A more reasonable (for most of us) price range makes a recommentation a much more studied affair.

Beings you have Paradigm speakers, Jeff's recommendation of Paradigm for the subwoofer is a good place to start.

Thanks for all of the responses.

Sorry should have given my price range. No more than $700.

I have not heard SVS subwoofers, but I have read a lot of positive things about them on various A/V web sites.

I own the SVS 20-39pc+, it is incredibly satisfying. I was listening to many different subs and had in narrowed down to a Totem and a Velodyne when I stumbled onto the SVS web-page. After reading so many of the reviews, I decided to try it. Like Outlaw, you are given time to audition it in your home. After just a few hours of throwing everything at it, both my wife and I knew that this sub was staying, (however it is a huge cylinder, 39" tall and 16" in diameter). Six months later I still am impressed with how it handles both music and movies. Since the time that we bought this, I have had the opportunity to listen to the previously mentioned subs again. I am glad I save the money by buying the SVS, it really sounds so much better than these others. Like the 950/770 I own, you can find excellent products sold only through the internet.

Ditto on an SVS 20-39pc+. It's black and matches my Paradigm speakers.

Thanks for all of the input. I guess I will order an SVS and try it out.

bbusse125, how did you make out with your sub purchase? I do not know of anyone who returned their SVS, but then I am not priveledged to every order. Just was curious how you made out.

SVS 20-39 PC+ did the trick for me. Very nice. Others to consider would be the SVS box subs as well as the HSU subs. I have not heard the HSUs but seems like good subs. A friend of mine just bought one (VTF3) and he is very happy.
