The Tivo Series 2 has USB host ports. The 990 has USB device ports. It needs more than just a driver, it would need a hardware change.

This is just a guess (I don't have a 990 yet), but I suspect it'll act/work just like the external USB "soundcards" that have come on the market over the past year or so.

As for remote PC access ... I wonder if something like this AnywhereUSB/5 might not do the job?

That's very cool, Pat, although still kind of pricey at $300.

When I talked to apple support last week about an iBook issue, I asked about the airport express station's USB functionality. While this isn't gospel, I was told that Apple was hard at work on a solution that would allow the unit to serve up other USB devices other than printers. That would be yummy for only $129.

Either way it looks like a remote connection to the 990 will be possible. If only we didn't have to do the reacharound on the 990 to set the port to service...
