Is the wait list closed already? I get the
message that it hasn't opened yet. Announcement
stated 17th, 9-6 EST. Did I miss something?

EDIT: Since we've started talking about seconds farther down in the thread, I checked out the header in my confirmation e-mail - "Sun, 17 Apr 2005 18:00:59 -0700".

Refresh, Paratrooper - it went up right at 9EST.

I dont know how its possible but my email time says 8:55 PM EST. I got in at 9PM according to my computer clock...must be a server time lag or something.

How soon did everyone get their E-mail confirmation? I put my order in about 45 minutes ago and still no confirmation. Maybe they're closed for tonight.....

It's possible that you entered your email address incorrectly. I got my confirmation immediately.

My SMTP header says Outlaws sent my confirmation at 9:01:13 seconds... (we proably need to go to this granularity if we really want to get an idea where we are in line...)

I finally got my confirmation this morning. I guess they were closed last night when I ordered. If they did'nt sleep maybe we all would get our 990's a lot faster... haha! Can't wait!

The header time in the email is not very useful. That time is the accepting computers time stamp. Sorry guys. Only outlaw knows the order...
My header time also was before 9 :p , so I guess my box is a little slow relative to outlaw.

Good point, stabie. ALso, I suspect that the order in the line among those in the first few minutes is probably pretty irrelevant - it's not like they're going to fill the pre-orders by shipping them out one unit per day.

Anyone recall what the initial shipment of the 950 consisted of? I just wonder if we are jockeying over an allotment of 100 or 1500 units? I assume the number must be relatively small otherwise a waiting list would be silly...

Outlaw didn't release numbers, and I don't expect them to do so in this case either. The first shipments of 950's were air-freighted to the US due to development delays, so the initial batches were probably smaller, but the initial shipment of 990's is coming in by freighter - I doubt they would have loaded up a slow boat with a "small" batch. I'd be afraid to even hazard a guess at what an initial production run means in terms of number of units manufactured, though.

Waiting lists like this have become common for manufacturers that operate via the Internet-direct model. You can see the exact same approach used by SV Subwoofers and AV123. It's similar to the way that traditional manufacturers will allocate certain numbers of units to their dealers (many of whom have waiting lists for customers in their area). The benefit here is that, unlike many brick & mortar dealers, companies like Outlaw don't ask for your money until they have product in hand and ready to ship. In contrast, I've had dealers want full payment months in advance to guarantee me a spot on a waiting list - and those dealers are often alloted initial shipments of two to five units.

I am on the list. Guess I need to buy some speakers now.

Has anyone got a confirmation email who placed their name on the list later than 945pm? I put my name on the list at approx 925pm and have not received a conformation.

got myself on this list too!! i can hardley wait. the expectations are really high.Ill have to purchase another center channel speaker so i can fully enjoy the 7.1... "WHEW", i need a 2nd job!!!

Paratrooper, I put my name on the wait list at 7:00pm Pacific(10:00 Eastern). Received a confirmation within a few minutes.

I submitted my reservation Sunday night within minutes of the form becoming available, but did not receive a confirmation email. Thinking I may have made a typo, I re-submitted Monday night. Still no confirmation email. Anyone else having problems?

I have the same problem.

I just got my confirmation email.

There is a spot on the reservation form to add a message. I would recommend resubmitting the reservation form, and adding a message explaining your situation. Hopefully they will check into it, and reset your date & time to your first reservation attempt.

I got my email from Outlaw within minutes after
signing up for the wait list (around 9:30-ish on
sunday). Meanwhile, I'm the town cryer for this
unit...telling anyone who'll lend an ear! I
think some people still think I'm nuts when they
look at the price, but people have so much music
these days, why not invest in a good sound system
to enjoy it with? It makes no sense to me to
boast about 3,000 cds (or some huge mp3 size) &
still play their music from a cheap boombox or
headset. Considering the lifespan of most
consumer electronics can be up to & over 10
years, it would seem like a very useful
investment to have a good one set up. And
of course movies & cable tv. These tinny speakers
on my flat screen tv are driving me crazy!

Just a dumb suggestion, which I am sure you probably already checked, but did it arrive in your junk mail folder? I know I have had that problem before.

I got a confirmation notice after my third request, in which I added a note in the comments box. I also got a very nice email from Scott, informing that my first request at 915p was being honored and the other two were being removed from the system. He sugested that my spam blocker may have been the problem. I had checked for blocked mail several times and no mail from Outlaws was blocked. A glich in the Automated process?? I must say this, Outlaw Customer Service is the best I have ever experienced.

They're good folks, alright. Glad to hear you've got your spot in line squared away.

I have been keeping an eye on my blocked mail folder. I'll try again.
