Dear Fellow Outlaw:

The Outlaws have a tradition of heating up the summer, and this year is no exception. We're hard at work this summer on a wide range of projects. Some of them won't see the light of day until next year, but others are ready to rock. At the same time, we also have a few other announcements, so put the chiller on high, because the heat is on!

The 1070 "Replacement"

Our first item is one that we mentioned in our last Newsletter. Our inventory of new stock of the Model 1070 Receiver has now sold out, and there will be no further production. Thus, the Model 1070 joins our list of "alumni" products. As also noted, while work is underway for a successor to the Model 1070, we do not expect it to ship until some time next year.

Until then, we are replacing the traditional receiver with something better. Effective immediately, we are pleased to announce lower prices on two combo packages that make it possible for you to have the power and flexibility of separates at the price of a receiver. By pairing a state-of-the-art processor with your choice of multi-channel amplifier you may call these packages our "virtual receivers."

Both combos are built around the Model 970, which shares the same feature package as the Model 1070, including a powerful CS 49400 series DSP, quadruple crossover AND analog bass management, lip sync delay, HDMI-compatible DVI switching, RS-232 upgradeability, eight digital audio inputs and two outputs, and much, much more. In addition, the 970 includes premium op amps in the critical analog path, something that raises the audible performance of this preamplifier/processor above the Model 1070's already high quality.

The Model 970 processor paired with the Model 7075 power amplifier (7x75 watt, 20Hz- 20kHz@ 8O, all channels driven) is now available for $999, a $400 discount from the current price! This is only $100 more than the Model 1070 for more power, improved sonic resolution, and the flexibility of separates!

The Model 970 processor paired with the Model 7125 power amplifier (7x125 watt 20Hz- 20kHz@ 8O, all channels driven) is now available for $1,298, which is also a $400 discount from the current price. This is an incredible value compared to mass-market AV receivers that claim to offer a full 125 watts to all channels, but which are really based on the "one channel at a time" power figures that are all too commonplace in today's market. Virtually any other receiver, or separates pair, with this level of features and "real" 7.1 power will cost you considerably more.

Please also note that the individual retail prices for these products will remain the same. The special pricing applies only to combos.

As much as we love receivers, with these two new combo prices, there isn't a better value in full 7.1 channel home theater available today. Perhaps the only way to improve on this offer is to charge it all with the Outlaw GECAF credit card and take advantage of twelve months with no payments and no interest.

New Subwoofers and a Special Promotion

No home theater system is complete without a subwoofer, and we're pleased to inform you that we are now shipping our two newest models in our LFM series line of subs: the LFM-1EX and LFM-1 Compact:

The LFM-1 Compact joins the Outlaw band with specs that make it a welcome member of the family. With a 10" driver and 225-watt amplifier, it has the same frequency response as our original LFM-1: 25Hz. However, as the name implies, it delivers that performance in a smaller cabinet and at a substantially lower price. While its maximum output is about 3dB less than the LFM-1, with proper room placement, the new LFM-1 Compact can easily reach outputs as high as 112dB.

The price is also in line with name, at a very compact $399. For its size and price the performance of this subwoofer is nothing less than astounding.

The new LFM-1 EX is our most powerful subwoofer to date. First demonstrated in May to rave reviews at the Home Entertainment Show in New York, it takes advantage of a cabinet that is about 20% larger than the LFM-1 Plus to reach down to 16 Hz and offers maximum output of 118 dB (subject to room placement). Even Outlaw Peter (who refused to replace his original LFM-1 with the Plus) is now convinced that he wants the EX.

The LFM-1 EX lets you finally "go the full distance" in low frequency performance without stretching at an incredible price. At its introductory price of $649, the LFM-1EX will take its place as one of the greatest values in the high performance subwoofer marketplace.

To kick off the completion of our subwoofer line, we are offering a special promotion for the month of August. When you order a PCA subwoofer cable at the same time as any Outlaw subwoofer in the month of August you'll get free freight on the entire order (sub and cable only).

Model 7900 Power Amplifier

Our final announcement this month is that the Model 7900 is now in stock. This is the "biggest, baddest" Outlaw power amp in town. Weighing in at over 145 pounds and delivering 300 watts into all seven channels simultaneously (8 ohms, 20 Hz - 20kHz, <0.05% THD), the Model 7900 is so powerful it employs two power cords to wrangle in the AC current. Of course, it features fully balanced inputs, making it the perfect companion for the Model 990 in a high end, "big room" system. The first units have already shipped, but due to the custom nature of this incredible product, supplies may be limited. If you are looking for the ultimate amplifier value, the Model 7900 is for you. At $3,500 we know of no other amplifier that can deliver this kind of ultimate performance.

Our next Newsletter should appear in your mailbox around Labor Day, and until then, as always, remember that "The best values in home theater are only a mouse-click away!™"
