Dear Fellow Outlaw:

As stated in our last Newsletter, our theme for this month is "It may be April, but we ain't fool'n!" When we said we would have more information in ten days, we weren't fool'n either. Thus, we are pleased to bring you up to date on the Model 990 by delivering the promised information.

With regard to the progress of the first shipment from the factory, it is still on the water, and we do not have a firm estimate of the arrival at this time. As also noted, the combination of delays due to increased port security and customs backlogs combined with the influence of spring weather on the inland journey to our distribution point all make it difficult to estimate when shipments will begin. However, even with the worst-case scenario, we should be no more than 30 to 35 days from the first shipment.

Given that schedule, it is now appropriate to start taking reservations. This will give us the ability to plan and stage orders so that everything is ready once the units arrive, and it will give you a chance to know where you sit in the queue. Initial quantities may be limited, so reservations are important in helping us to allocate the first shipments. If you are at all interested in ordering a Model 990, we encourage you to place a reservation, as it may be some time before we have units available for shipment from stock. As always, the reservations are non-binding, and we will not charge your credit card until the unit actually ships.

Accordingly, you may place a reservation for a Model 990 starting on Sunday evening, April 17th. As with our past reservations lists, there are a few ground rules for you to be aware of:

o The reservation list will open at 9PM EDT/6PM PDT this coming Sunday, April 17th. We will not accept reservations before that time by any means.
o To place a reservation after the list opens, go to http://www.outlawaudio.com/waitlist990.html and complete the reservation form. No reservations will be taken via phone, standard e-mail or any other means of communication.
o Placing a reservation does not bind you to purchase anything, but it does secure your place in line to place an order when the products are available. We will not charge your credit card until you confirm that you wish to place an order.
o You will receive an automated confirmation message by return e-mail so that you have a record of placing the reservation. Please do not call or e-mail to see what your place is in the queue, as this will only delay shipment preparation for everyone. We cannot tell you where your "place in the line" is.
o Approximately ten days before your Model 990 is available for shipment we will contact you to confirm that you still wish to place a formal order. At that time we will take your payment information and process the order. If you wish to cancel the reservation at that time you may do so without any charge or penalty.

We know that you want to make your purchase decision on hard facts, not vague promises about a component that will be the center of your home theater system for some time. To deliver those facts without making this Newsletter so long that it clogs your in-box, we have posted four relevant documents on our web site. All may be reached by going to the 990 page of our web site at http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/990x.html That will take you to the new Model 990 section of the web site, where you will find the following:

o A complete list of the Model 990's features, expanding on the brief summary in our "April Fools" Newsletter.
o A full set of technical specifications for the Model 990.
o A new set of front and rear panel images.
o Last, but not least, a comprehensive FAQ document that answers many of the questions already asked about the Model 990, not only in our own Saloon, but also in the other on-line discussion forums. The FAQ explains not only what we did with the Model 990, but why we did it. We have always thought of home theater enthusiasts, and you, our fellow Outlaws in particular, as a family, and we want to bring you into the Hideout by giving you some of the background behind our product decisions.

As a reminder, the introductory price of the Model 990, guaranteed for at least 90 days, is $1,099. When you take a look at the features, the value of the Model 990 becomes clear. We encourage you to take a look at the new information and to use it to compare the Model 990 to other processors, whether they are available now or are scheduled for release in the coming months.

Before too long you will be able to audition the Model 990 for yourself in the best demo room we can think of - your own home theater. Until then, the next best thing will be to hear a demo of the Model 990 and other Outlaw products in our suite at the Home Entertainment Show at The New York Hilton during the last weekend of April.

Peter, Scott, Steve and some of the Outlaws will be there with the Model 990, LFM-1, ICBM, our amplifiers and quite possibly a few other surprises. If you have ever thought about attending the HE Show, this is one you won't want to miss, and we "ain't fool'n " about that!

To make the trip to the HE show a bit easier, we are pleased to once again make a limited number of free tickets available to the Outlaw community on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to assure fair distribution of these passes we regret that we must limit them to one per physical address. If you would like to receive a pass, please send an e-mail with your name, address, e-mail address and a daytime phone number to showtix@outlawaudio.com on or after 6PM PDT/9PM EDT on Saturday, April 16th. Please note that any messages sent to that mailbox before that time will not be honored. We will mail the tickets starting on Tuesday, April19th so that if your name is selected you will receive a ticket in time to travel to New York. If you do NOT receive a ticket it means that demand exceeded our supply. Please DO NOT call to request tickets or to ask if you will receive one. With the opening of the reservation list, the availability of these tickets, our preparations for the HE Show and the normal press of business, the next two weeks will be very busy ones at the Hideout, so please help us by not overloading our phone system.

These are exciting times for Outlaw, and we hope that the information now available will add to that excitement. Stay with us, for there is more to come! In the meantime, remember, "It may be April, but we ain't fool'n!" Check into the Saloon often and visit our web site. After all, the best values in home theater are only a mouse click away.?

Regards,

The Outlaws
