I am looking for suggestions on a monoblock amp that would have similar power and neutral sonic characteristics that would work well along with my 750. I am trying to set up a 6.1 or 7.1 system. I have heard that some owners of the 750 have used Marantz or Parasound amps. Any help would be appreciated.

thank you;
Paddy

I have paired my 750 with a Parasound HCA-1500A for a 6.1 setup.

While not quite at the level of performance and separation of good monoblocks the 1500 is a very good stereo amp and has matched very well with the 750. I use the 1500 to power the front channels and the 750 for the center, surrounds and rear surround. I am bi amping the center channel with two channels from the 750.

I have a 7.1 system set up. I use the 750 for the left, center, right, and dipole surrounds left and right. I'm using a inexpensive onkyo sterio amp 150 watts a channel for the back left and right surrounds. All my speskers are paradigm. The side surrounds are dipole and the back surrounds are direct radiating. I love the effect the extra speakers make. I've found that when there is enough surround information to make them work...it always sounds great!!! Remember there isn't alot of information going to them in the first place so if you get enough power to them and there the same kind of speaker they will work just fine!

That's a pretty slick idea, dplooker. I've been planning on adding a 750 to my 1050 later this summer or early this fall, and had been wondering about what upgrade route might be available if I replaced the 1050 with a pre/pro (like the 950) at some point in the future. An inexpensive 2-channel for the center surround would do the job nicely while keeping the cost down (don't know why I hadn't thought about it).

BTW, I'm also using Paradigms (got them a few months ago). Great stuff!
