I have my sony BDP-350 blu ray hooked up to my outlaw 1050 thru digital coaxial cable. I use the harmony 880 remote to turn everything to the right settings. Here is where the problem lies. For some reason instead of going to the DVD input (digital coaxial) the receiver goes into direct mode. I then can not use the remote to switch to the dvd input. I have to go up to the receiver and manually change it to the right input. Does anyone have a clue about what is going on. I've quadruple check my remote settings and everything seems to be in order. Help please.

My first thought is to check with Harmony, as there have been cases in the past when Harmony's database got a bit out of whack and mis-assigned input commands. Also, have you tried using the 1050's original remote to see if that works properly? If it does, you could learn the command to the 880.

I do not have my original remote because of my stinking dog chewed it up. I will shoot Harmony an email to see what they have to say and get back to you. Thanks for the quick reply.

My suspicion is that they may have mixed some codes between the 1050 and 950, or perhaps someone set up a 1050 but defined the direct input as "DVD" for use with a DVD-A/SACD or Blu-ray player and it got into their database with the wrong label on it. That's just a guess, though, and Harmony support is generally really good about stuff like that.

Destroy,
I'm looking at getting the 880 to use with our 1050. We have Time Warner Cable Scientific Atlanta 8300HD box. Do you know if the 880 has the ability to get to the recorded programs list, to schedule programs etc(basically the same functions as the SA remote.
Thanks
Jeff

For any buttons on a remote, the Harmony can learn the commands even if they aren't already in the database (which they probably are). My 8300HD is controlled by a URC MX-900 (and an MX-700 before that), and I have access to all normal functions (the program guide, the DVR "recorded programs" list, the A,B,C buttons for operating the DVR interface, and so forth).

Gonk,
Thanks for the quick response. Because of our multiple remotes, the wife still drives me crazy on how to get the basics done(even after 6 years of the current setup). Our 12 year old has no problems. Go figure! Thanks again.

My wife once declared our MX-500 universal remote (purchased in 2003) to be the best home theater upgrade I ever made. The MX-700 and MX-900 were equally well received once I had them programmed and dialed in. Forget HDTV, surround sound, or Blu-ray - the remote still wins.
