I plan on using the ICBM with stereo subs and am curious as to how it works.

Here is what I want to do:
On the preamp, turn off the sub (.1) channel and set the 5 channels to large.
Send the 5channel to the ICBM and XO at 100hx. Use the L/R sub out for the stereo subs.

Does this sound ok?

How does the ICBM matrix the 5 channel full range signals to form stereo subs.

the L/Rsub outs ...they are they stereo and not mono ...right?
Thanks.

Your plan sounds fine.

There is a switch on the ICBM for subwoofer mode mono/stereo. If it is set to mono, the left and right sub outputs are mono. If it is set to stereo, the ICBM does as follows (from page 14 of the manual ):

Quote:
When the stereo switch is activated, the ICBM gathers all low bass from the right front, right surround, and one-half of the bass from the center channel and center surround channel and places it with the right subwoofer output. Conversely, everything from the left front, left surround, and one-half of the center and center surround are channeled to the left subwoofer output.

I'd think that you'd not want to turn off the .1 channel, and instead set all speakers to "large" and run a cable from the .1 output to the ICBM to handle the LFE track. The ICBM gives you more flexibility in adjusting the LFE balance than your processor will.

Good point, Matthew. I missed that. You do want to leave the sub on. Otherwise your plan is correct.

Gomer,

Do you have the ICBM running your stereo subs? If so how is it working for you?

I just ordered one to use with the two sealed shiva's that I'm building for music. I have a shiva based sonosub that I'm going to use for the LFE channel out from the receiver.
