I was wondering if anyone had an idea about how much more power the 770 should put out than the 750. Will it even be noticable? As I understand it, anything less than a doubling of power output will be difficult to hear. Why produce an amp with an additional 35 watts? Is it even meaningful?

The main goal of the 770 isn't going up to 200WPC, but going up to 7 channels. As for the difference the extra 35W makes, I doubt you would notice it much until you had particularly power-hungry speakers and/or a large listening environment.

I was just wondering why they didn't do a 7x165. Maybe they could have achieved some kind of economy of scale that way... after all, they're already producing loads of 165 watt cards for all the 750s they're selling.

In addition to that, there's the idea of creating a 7 x 65W unit. After all, they've got some darn nice amps in the 1050's ... Just pull them out and put seven of them into a box all by themselves. Would be very good for folks in apartments or have small HT rooms like my current 12 x 15 room where the seating area is less than 9 feet from the display.

Or why not a 7x500 amp? The channels would have to be bridgeable, of course, just in case you needed to get power outputs into the four figures.

Hmm... maybe you could connect it to a 220v line with one of those washing-machine or kitchen-stove looking outlets...
