Just hooked up my DVD analog inputs to the 950's 5.1 input jacks. I only get sound from the front 2 speakers. Nothing but slight hiss from the C, RS, LS, and SW!
I rechecked all the connections and they are correct. I'm using a Toshiba SD4800. Anyone have any suggestions.

I get all speakers when using the digital connection for the DVD, and CD players.

Thanks,

I'm not familiar with your player, but make sure that the 5.1 output of the player is set for multichannel rather than downmixed to stereo as if you were sending it through your TV.

On the 950, make sure you've played a multichannel format before you switch to the 6 channel direct. If memory serves correctly (and it may not considering the day), if you switch from a stereo format to 6 ch direct, you only get the front main channels.

Let us know.

When you say mutichannel format, I'm assuming you mean, in this case, a DVD audio DVD? If so, yes, I was playing the Fourplay DVD Audio and I did switch the player's setup to multichannel. I hope it's not the 950. I'm really growing to like the 950/770. They sound wonderful with my Axioms up front.

He means to switch the 950 to any input that is in a surround mode, as compared to one in stereo mode, before switching to the 6-channel analog input.

"When you say mutichannel format"

Just to make sure. No not the fact that yes you are playing a multichannel format ie: a DVD-A etc. But - beside having the DVD player set up for it in its menu. The Outlaw 950 has to have been in a multichannel mode such as DD, PLII before you hit the 6-channel direct button. If the 950 is in stereo mode (last setting you used) when you hit the 6-c button, you won't get your multi-channel analog.

Thanks folks! It works. As mentioned earlier, the mode has to be in multichannel before switching to the 6 ch direct.

Thanks again

Someday I'll learn to explain myself a little more accurately so that you guys (Gonk & SLL)don't have to clean up after me.

A little off-topic: Bosso, my Denon 2900 came in yesterday. I'll set it up and post back on its audio performance and bass management setup tomorrow in the Outlaw to Outlaw saloon.

How it sounds? It sounds quite good. The biggest difference is in the surround department. I think I hear more information through those speakers than when in PLII-M. I also hear more hiss, albeit, only when up close to the center and surrounds.

After listening this way for sometime last night, I've reverted back to only a digital coax and stereo analog connection, as I don't think the difference is worth all that spaghetti back there.

I really like the way the digital stereo sounds actually. I A/D'd the analaog and digital stereo and found it very difficult to tell which was which after awhile, as I did not know after awhile, which setting I was on. When I used the Denon 3803, I could tell the difference, the analog was cleaner. The 950 is clean both ways.

What I am surprised at is that the 770 stays only warm, whereas my 950 is more than warm and dare I say hot. The shelf above it feels hot to touch. I'm concerned about this. Is this normal? I've read other threads where folks say they only get warm. Why does a preamp get so hot? Isn't it mainly maid up of chip boards, whereas the amp is the baby that should smoke?

Later folks, I have to get off my duff now and build my Shiva sonotube sub. I'm afraid of my new router!
