Will this be hiss free? I had one after the red dots were released and it was terrible, I love all the features of the 950 but want to make sure I'll be hiss free with this set-up, any idea's

Happily, it looks like it is now safe to pair a 950 up with Acurus amps and Klipsh horns.

Can someone with this combo or something close possibly fill me in? Thanks gonk, but I don't want to have to return another one. I have KLF-30 Mains 102db sensative and I'm using two Acurus A200x3 amps.

CBall- I now have 1 A200 and 1 A200x5. The hiss with the red dot 950 I originally had with those 2 amps was identical to the 2 A200x3's I had before that.

With the blue dot 950, the hiss level dropped by 3/4's.

With the 30 day trial, I say take a chance. I also believe that the dude Scott Grissom had Acurus with Klipsch. He might be a guy to check with.

CBall - I have two Acurus A200x3 and one A200 driving KLF 20 mains, KLF C7 center and 4 RS-7s. I had the first hiss fix unit originally and noticed hiss 10 feet out into my room. After receiving the new Blue Dot version, the hiss is at best 1 foot out and not audible at all during normal play. I even think the hiss has reduced some since breaking in the blue dot. I know the sound is far superior than the bright sound I got from my Yamaha 2095, which by the way I loved. That shows how much I like the 950.

Go for it and please post a follow up to your experience.

Thanks Kevin and Scott, Scott are you using all your amps? I see that's 8 channels of amplification, just curious. Hopefully after I get my tax return I can order one again. by the way I have KLF-30 mains C-7 front and rear centers,KSP-S6 surrounds and dual 20-39CS+ subs.

Yeah, I have an extra channel to play with in the future. Just worked out that way as I was aquiring my amps. I do like having the multiple power supplies however.

Good luck, sounds like you will have a rockin' system with the 950.

Scott, an overhead "envelope" channel someday?

Personally, I draw the line at 7.1...

(My wife: "Kevin, why do you now have 4 speakers in the back of the room?" "Because honey, more is *always* better!")

I don't have the Acurus ampage, but I do have Klipsch speakers all around, with my mains being the KLF30's. I have the latest 950, purchased just 3 weeks ago and I have had no hiss problems, it sounds fantastic. BTW, my amps are Parasound and B&K.

Thanks for all the replies, JAMMINJC you have no hiss at all with your 30's?? If that's the case then I'm impressed and looking forward to my tax return so I can order another 950

Cball, I can detect no hiss. A friend of mine who has Klipsch Ref7's, Anthem AVM20 and Parasound 2200II amp was amazed as well.

JAMMINGC -
When you say no hiss, do you mean with your ear right up to the tweeter of the 30's. If so that is awesome. My 20s have hiss out to about 1 foot with my acurus amps.

Cball, yes I hear no noise with my ears up against the 30's. But this quietness could be becasue I only have digital connections to the 950 and when no source is detected the 950 has auto mute I beleive. Anyway, with source material playing at low levels I hear no hiss, only the source material. BTW my ampage is Parasound HCA1500a powering the 30's and B&K ST3140 powering my Klipsch center/surrounds. I waited quite a while before ordering the 950 becasue of the hiss issue, but when they came out with the Soundhound version, I thought I would give it a try, especially with the 30 day in home moneyback guarantee. I have been very pleased with the 950's sound and will be keeping it.
