When I use the test tones on my new 1050 the volume of the tone for the subwoofer is way less than the other speakers, even if I turn the level of the powered sub (new Paradigm PDR-12)all the way up and turn the sub trim on the 1050 all the way up? Could this be a defective 1050. Thanks.

the sound of my sub is the same way..I dont think anything is wrong, watch a DVD and check the sub..I have mine set at +2, more than that it blows you away..

This is a common problem with a lot of receivers, your best bet is to use a test disc like "Avia" or "VE" or the like to calibrate the speakers and sub.

Not to worry; mine does the same. I found a Home Theater setup disc at Parts Express that has very good setup tones on it, plus some 2-channel 24/96 music tracks. Excellent bargain, too. I paid $7.77 plus shipping. The part # is 510-228. You might also want to just listen to music with a repetitive bass line & set the Sub trim on your 1050 to "0", then use the level control on your sub itself to bring the bass up to a satisfying level. If it's actually a sub placement issue,(usually not- as most subs get shoved in a corner, producing a high spl due to room reinforcement of the low freq's) you may want to try this: using iterconnects and a power cord long enough to place THE SUB where YOU would normally sit, walk around the borders of the room (where you could conceivably place the sub), and listen for the smoothest response. This will give you the best balance of low freq. extension AND articulate bass. Try it, you'll like.
