The 990 doesn't fit comfortably in my Lovan modular rack. (which is odd since huge power amps seemed to fit just fine and the 955 fits just dandy). What are you guys using for your 990?

Cheers,

It's not likely to do you much goood, but I've got mine in an entertainment center. In my case, the fixed bottom shelf has always held the surround processor (that's where the 950 lived previously), and the adjustable upper shelves hold the source components.

Before the 990 was introduced I needed a rack and I could not find one at a reasonable price that met my needs. The rack had to be fairly low because I need to place the center channel speaker on top and it had to sit below my projection screen. The rack also had to hold four pieces of equipment and allow sufficient clearance for ventilation. After looking at one suitable rack I decided that I could purchase the raw materials and build it myself. At the local Home Depot I got three pieces of 3/4 inch thick laminated pine cut to 17 1/2 by 41 inches. I also purchased six threaded studs along with washers and bolts. I drilled six holes through the three shelves. Two holes, front and back, 1 3/4 inches from the ends and front and two holes, front and back in the middle of the shelves. After staining and sealing the shelves I assembled them and adjusted the height of the center and top shelf. I then painted the studs black. It works well and cost less than seventy dollars.
Just by luck the 990 fit in the shelf with almost three inches to spare at the top.
