it always baffles me when a subwoofer review starts off by talking about the finish of the cabinet. imo that speaks for itself...

as usual, i am unimpressed.

Looks like Soundhound's organ music has made it to the big time!! It was used to measure output in aforementioned review.

I think it's an interesting marketing move - there are still a lot of people getting into home theater who are doing so with a very restricted budget, and the focus of SVS's line-up in recent years has been getting more expensive. (Aside from getting the entry level passive cylinders and using an existing amp, the only other subs in their product line that are priced under $600 are the 25-31PCi, 20-39PCi, and PB12-ISD - and many of their newer subs are priced closer to or beyond the $1000 mark.) If all you could spend was ~$400, this would probably serve you better than many of the alternatives, but add $150 to your budget and you have a wider range of options (including Outlaw's LFM-1). All that being said, they'll sell tons of them.

I think SVS should be applauded for building a high quality and affordable subwoofer like the PB10. The reviewer was definitely impressed with its performance, especially the frequency response 18-100 +/-1. The SVS's claim that the PB10 is the best 10" subwoofer available is probably credible.

For that price and such performance: it's unbeatable. A bonus point: it's made in USA and Canada.

I never seen a 10” woofer could go down to 20 HZ and still provide 105 DB output. And it is even suspicious that this frequency response measurement was done outdoors and their living room not in the Anechoic Chamber.

I wonder why that speaker manufactures never list driver’s complete specification, polar response chart, and Thiele-Small parameters in a professional manner.

As usual, I am unsatisfied.

After being unsatified with the b&m stores' subs and those prices, I took a leap and purchase an SVS cylinder two years ago. Just like Outlaw, they stand behind their product, respond personally to your questions, have a wonderful home trial program, and make a great product. I was so satisfied with this purchase that I did not hesitate to buy over the internet when I purchased my preamp and amp, (the 950/770 combo). SVS makes subs, it's what they do, and they do it well! I would not hesitate to purchase one. I have had no experience with Outlaw's sub so I have no recommendation as to which company to buy from.

I've been using this SVS sub for about a month and I'm quite happy with it. Although I don't have any specific measurements but I feel that the bass is very quick and very tight. It's also loud and low more than I wish for. I put the sub at the back of the room but the bass I hear comes from the front and it blends well with other channels. What I like the most is that the other speakers suddenly sound better, and the whole thing seems to have another dimension.

quick and tight are usually words associated with good subs, but i guess how quick and how tight would make all the difference. :p

I don't have much experience with other subs, but I'd hardly imagine or need something quicker and tighter (eg. chapter Darla in Finding Nemo).

Volume wise, I set 950 at -20 and the sub at 11 o'clock for movies and a bit lower (on 950) for music.

I'd love to read some review on this sub against others at similar price range.
