Hi all,

I am putting together my 1st home theater and am planning on purchasing a 5.1 Ascend speaker system w/ 340's L-C-R and 200's as the surrounds with an HSU VTF-3 MK 2 sub. These speakers are nominal 8 ohm with a 89db sensitivity I believe. The room is about 14 x 20, 2500 cuft but is open on the side in the front to the dining area and in the the rear to a hallway. I am looking at the 950 with either a 7100 or 770 to power them with probably 75% movie, 25% music. I don't listen to music nearly as loud as I used to but would like to listen to the movies at or near ref. level. Do you think the 7100 is enough or should I look at the 770? I would like to stick with a 7 channel amp as it allows an easy upgrade path to 7.1 when the time comes.

Thanks for any comments you may offer.
