Smart Little Lena, I thought the same thing, I've talked with a few fold offline that have the 770/950 combo, no hiss...

I'm guessing the majority of owners with hiss run the 950 with a non outlaw amp.

My addiction started when friend of mine recommened a pair of Sennheiser headphones which I purchased thinking I was spending too much. Little did I know that my headphones would make me notice that my receiver was not very good so I bought an outlaw 1050. With the 1050 installed I noticed that my speakers were not very good. With my new speakers I am wondering if a SACD unit would be a good idea. Meanwhile I really have my eye on a 950/770 combo. Perhaps we should start an outlaw anonymous forum.

Two years ago my wife gave me one of them DVD player things. That lead me to get a 36" XBR, which lead to a 1050. Then that had to have 5 Paradigm Ref Studios and a powered sub. The 1050 had 6.1 capability, so why not 1 more studio 20, so I did. Then curiousity (ok, obsession) lead me to get an amp (750) that UPS distroyed while in their care. Soooo, I got a 770 and just couldn't pass up the savings that would be had on a 950/770 combo. Well shoot, now I have 7.1 capability! Another studio 20 is on its way. That being done, I needed to protect it all, so here came the Panamax 5300. Now I'm thinking "new rack".

You see what "my wife" started? Boy I love that gal!

A broke, but happy....Bill in Texas.

First it was an 'all-in-one' system, cassette, no CD player with Turntable...
Then an all in one system running four speakers (out of the same L and R outputs)...
Then VCR (gift from a friend whos VCR I kept borrowing)...
Then it was a $1400 SONY 'rack' system, first '5.1'..er ProLogic setup....
Then some Klipsh ProMedia 4.1s for my PC...
Then the SONY DVD Player...
Then the 32" Panasonic TAU HDTV...
Then a pair of Sennheiser 590 headphones...
Then the Outlaw 1050 and the Klipsch Reference series all around...
Then the 47" Panasonic...and the RP56 DVD player...
Then the Rear Center (all matching of course)...
Then a pair of Etymotic ER-4P (to go with my Nomad Jukebox 3)
Then the SVS 20-39PC+...

And now that I'm in a house, with cool neighbors and nothing on the otherside of my walls...the 770/950...which JUST CAME!!!

Next up? A SACD (I still have the 5 disc changer that came with the SONY rack system listed above, though I don't use it as my DVD player sounds much MUCH better), maybe another Rear Surround...maybe...RP91...perhaps bumping up my surrounds from 14 to 12 gauge...

Ah the choices, though I think that for now, I'm pretty happy just the way it is (***Wallet starts clapping!!***)

First, a samsung dvd player
Then a Kenwood Receiver
Then a Sony speaker (can't believe i bought this. I acutally still have it in a closet but i can't even sell it coz who the where the heck am i going to sell it.) Sony speakers anyone??? LOL
Then a Sony 5 disc cd player
Then a Yamaha Tower speakers (not like the ones that are sold at Best Buy) this one's a high end quality. I wonder how come yamaha doesn't make this kind of speakers anymore?
Then an Acoustic Research bookshelf speaker
Then an Acoustic research sub
Then Klipsch Quintets for surrounds
Then a Monster Cable Z1 speaker cables
Then a Pioneer NS-5 cd/receiver in one
Then another AR bookshelf speaker
Then a Sennheiser HD210 headphone

Subscription to Stereophile mag ( which i didn't understand at first ) Cool mag but the reviewed stuff are too freaking expensive. You'll see What this magazine did to me. Moving on

Then an AMC 24/96 cd player
Then a Sennheiser HD535 headphone
Then a Pioneer Elite Integrated amp
Then a PSB Alpha Mini speakers
Then a MIT T3 interconnects
Then a Paradigm Micro speakers
Then i learned something called isolation/vibration so i bought Vibrapods
Then a Grado Labs SR80 headphone
Then a MIT T4 speaker cables
Then an Acoustic Energy Aegis One
Then a Paradigm CC 170 v3
Then Kimber PBJ interconnects
Then Kimber 4TC speaker cables
Then a Sony 51" HDTV
Then an Audioquest YIQ-1
Then a PS Audio Power Port...now i am upgrading my entire system again...i can't freaking stop. This is acutally an addiction.

I cancelled Sterophile and went for Sound and Vision which is much so much better. Also subscribed to Audio Video Interiors which led me to decide to fix our basement (and that's what i am doing right now).

You people see what media is doing to us.
Now i'm always broke hey but i'm happy but never contented :*...what's next a new reciever and a universal player. Someone stop me! i can't stop buying.

But most of all thanks to the technology called "internet" coz with it i could not have known anything about Audio and Home Theater. I think i'm goin to cry

With this level of response, it sounds like a good idea.
In my situation, without the funds and very un-impressionable wife whose eyes are going to be permanently rolled to the heavens in the not-so-distant future, I haven't had the chance to put togehter the kinds of systems described here, but I think I started out very well indeed with 1050 and a AR HC6 set-up.
I think a SVS sub is in the future...
But as a wise man once said (Oscar Wilde?):

"It is is infinitely more wise to learn from someone else's mistakes than from your own."
