Anybody tried the 770 with a pioneer elite vsx55txi as a preamp? If not, can you see any problems with it. Or is there a better way to go?

The VSX-55TXi has preamp outputs, so adding an amp would be no problem at all.

Be careful on what speakers you're driving with the Pioneer. I don't know if that particular model supports 4 ohm speakers. If it doesn't, then this combination won't help you. Most of the Pioneer's even when sending signals thru the pre-amp portion also send the signal thru the amp section as well, even if the amp portion of the pioneer isn't been used. I've found that out the hard way, by extensive testing.

So if your pioneer doesn't support 4 ohm speakers, you could easily still end up cutting out even when you're only using the pre-amp portion.
