I had planned to purchase the 950/7100 combo the first of this year. As a Christmas present from my family I recieved a Harman Kardon AVR630 reciever. Not a bad receiver but now that I have some extra money I would like to use the AVR630 as the preamp/processor an upgrade power to the 770 amp. Does anyone have comments or feedback on trying to use the HK AVR630 receiver as a preamp/processor with the 770 amp?

that hk 630 is pretty nice, it has pre-outs for every channel so why not use it as a preamp/processor.

The 770 is a very good amp, and the benefit of going ahead and getting one is that it can remain in your system for a very long time -- even when some new processing mode or format or digital input comes along and you want to upgrade the AVR630. As curegeorg pointed out, the AVR630 does have the preamp outputs that you need to connect the 770.
