hi all,
this is my first post...ive been lurking for months. i recently bought a 950 from a highly esteemed forum member and i take delivery of it next week. i was just looking at pictures of the 950's rear and noticed there isnt a switched a/c outlet. this is a bummer for me as i've used the switched outlet on the back of my reciever to operate my rotel rlc 900 power conditioner, where all my amps and components are connected. this was great for turning the whole thing off and on.
i didnt really want to get into complicated remote schemes, just wanted to keep it simple. any ideas? what do you guys do?
thanks,
woof*

Does your Rotel have a 12V trigger input? If so, you can use the 950's trigger output to control the Rotel.

The older models only had a 120V "control" cord that would plug into a switched device. Later versions of the RLC900 included the 12V trigger. If it's a newer unit your golden.

thanks for the reply's guys.
my rotel does have the control cord and thats how i've used it in the recievers switched outlet. im at work so i cant look at it but i dont think it has a 12V trigger. i didnt know there were two kinds of rotels. maybe i should replace it with the newer version.

As an alternative, if your amp does NOT have trigger input, you can look for a remote triggered AC box from an AV specialist who carries Niles or Sonance. They make boxes that control an AC outlet turn on/off based on either audio sense or the trigger from a product along the lines of the 950 or 990. Just make sure the AC box thingy is capable of handling the current draw from whatever you plug into it!

Take a look at this product, called Smart Strip, here .

They recommend the LCG3(without Fax/Modem Protection) or LCG4(with Fax/Modem Protection) for home entertainment products. It has a Control Outlet that will switch on up to 6 other Switched Outlets when the Control senses current flow. It also has 3 hot switches that is always on regardless if the Control outlet is being used or not.

I have tested it with my 950/7100 without the trigger switch plugged in, and it works smile .

Hope this helps.

I have a Monster Power HTS 2600, I can hook up like 4 components and have the 950 trigger them all, with the excellent power conditioning and protection this Item is well worth the purchase
I just got Rotel amp w/ no trigger in, but it isnt necessary at all with the 2600

woof*, where did you buy that? I emailed them asking where a dealer was, and have not received a reply. I have an Adcom ACE 515 I'd like to trigger on.
EDIT: Oh, I see, you bought it on Ebay. Still, weird that they don't email me back on where to buy it...

For future reference. I would recommend the following "smart" power strip:

I bought one and it works very well. It's also under 30 bucks!
