Ok. My first little glitch with my 950. I am sure the fix is something simple and I am hoping that you guys will recognize it.
I have a HD set up with programs broadcast in 5.1. The 950 recognizes these just fine but as soon as the commercial comes on, no sound. At all. The show returns and ,viola, the sound is back. The 950 displays 'Dolby' throughout. Thanks in advance. These forums have been an excellent resource.

I have a little extra to add on this. I decided to go into my satellite menu and switch the audio output from Dolby to pcm and then I had sound. When I switched back to Dolby -no sound. This is only happening on a few channels though. Also when I switched back to Dolby there was a loud 'pop' from my center channel. This just started happening tonight.

Ok. No sound at all on anything that is not broadcast in Dolby ( essentially channels 4-99 with the exception of some HD material). The receiver is not switching back to Pro Logic and I can not seem to get it to do so manually.

Have you recently locked that input on Dolby Digital (page 31 in the manual)? That could explain the behavior that you are experiencing.

Actually I feel a little silly but I think I figured it out. My dogs turned on my DVD player which uses digital optical as well as my Satellite and , somehow, both of them being on at the same time made things go goofy. Those Rat Terriers can be sneaky. I knew it could not be my wonderful 950. Sorry for the false alarm and thanks again Gonk.

Why would having your DVD and Satellite on at the same time stop the 950 from working properly?

Unless the 950 somehow allows for the same imput to be assoicated to the same digital connector...

I have my Sattelite receiver on all the time and never turn it off with my current setup with no issues...

I don't know but once I turned it off it went back to normal...well almost. It still did it on a couple of of channels. It seems that it is not switching over to Pro Logic when it needs to sometimes? I don't have the problem when the Satellite is on at the same time as other components (for example when watching a dvd). Only when the DVD is on and I am watching TV.
