Looking for info on how people have connected their 950 to Amp and Amp to speaker.

1) 950 to AMP long/short interconnect.
2) AMP to speakers long/short cables

If possible please include brand and model numbers. Thanks alot.

I'll start, I guess. Short interconnects and average to long speaker wire here. Specifically:

1) Model 950 to Model 750 amp and Parasound HCA-800 amp, short interconnects (1.0 to 1.5 meter).

2) Model 750 amp to mains and center (Paradigm Reference Studio/60's and Studio/CC), 2.0 meter to 2.5 meter speaker cables. Model 750 amp to surround speakers (Axiom M3ti's), ~35 feet of in-wall and in-attic speaker wire. HCA-800 amp to surround back speakers (Paradigm Reference Studio/ADP's), ~40 feet of in-wall and in-attic speaker wire.

In considering my 950/770 purchase, I also wrestled with the idea of 950 plus seven M200’s so that I could use long interconnects and short speaker cables.

Many words have been written on the pros and cons of long/short vs. short/long, both in this forum and others. After researching, pondering and corresponding with the Outlaws, my conclusion agreed with the Outlaws’ recommendation: short interconnects, long speaker cables.

About as briefly as I can say it, either way can be done well, however the short/long solution is:

- easier to accomplish in some aspects
- less costly (extreme forms of cabling aside)
- poses fewer potential problems

Edit: I forgot to add -

Interconnects: Belden 1694a coax with Canare RCA-type connectors, varying in length from ½ a meter to 3 meters between sources, pre/pro, ICBM and main amp, about 5 meters from ICBM to powered subs.

Speaker cables: Belden 8281, double run using outer conductor only. This cable exhibits only 0.0011 ohms resistance per foot, nearly as good as 10 gauge copper, and without current in the center of the cable. Run up to 20 meters for surrounds.

950/770 combo driving seven 6-ohm nominal loudspeakers.

While you are likely to see varying opinions, I hope this helps.

I use short Outlaw cables between 950 and amp, and think very highly of them. I just use heavy 12gauge Radio Shack speaker wire for the front three speakers and two subs (subs are external amp NHTs), and all those runs are under 12ft. Because I didn't want to tear out sheetrock to run in wall to the rears, I ran Decorp 12FLT Dewire to the rears (2 30ft runs). This is superflat (credit card thickness) speaker wire, and it was ran under the carpet and pad to full range floor standing towers, same as the fronts. The decorp wire is a little expensive, but it can be a lifesaver to wire HT speakers in an existing house without tearing out walls. It can even be mudded to the drywall and completely hidden right to the speakers at any height.

Thanks everyone for your info.
Last night I experimented with the long/short and
short/long setups. To my suprise the short/long sounded way better. I say to my suprise because, setting up by brothers HT, years back, the long/short system setup was much better. I did this with stereo, since I have a pair of really long speaker cables and IC's each.

I guess I'm the outlier since I'm running five Mackie powered monitors. I had Wicked Cable make custom length male rca-male rca cables since the 950 doesn't have balanced outputs (even though the Mackies have xlr inputs.) Especially since I added a Brick Wall the sound is wonderful: silent, black background, clearly delineated full range sound (esp. with the lfm.) I'm happy...

Outlaw 950 output with Cardas 1 meter IC's into B&K 7250 II amp. B&K amp output with Cardas bi-wire to Klipsch KLF 30's, single wire to RC-3 II center and SB2 surrounds.
