I was looking through items on ebay during lunch and found a 1050 for sale by our very own "gonk" and had to bring this to the attention of the readers of this forum. Get the word out to anyone that may be interested in a 1050 that there is one for sale on ebay.

Gonk has done so much for all of us on these threads that maybe we could do just a little by helping him sell his 1050.

Lets get the word out. I know I'll do what I can. Oh, that's right, I just did.

heh-heh. Hey there Bill, thanks for spreading the word. Yes, my 1050 is currently sitting on eBay (actually, it's sitting on a chair in my study, but you get the idea). It's served me well, but now needs a new home where it will be used and appreciated.

You're a good man, Bill in Texas. A fellow Memphian (everybody wave to Marc) saw this thread and will be taking possession of my 1050 this weekend. No worries about UPS mangling it!

That's great! Glad I could help and congratulations to Marc. The 1050 is a great piece. Myself and Ed are tickled you won't need UPS to ship. I was this close to ordering a 755 just after our (mine and eddyboy's) drop-n-kick the 750 run around with UPS and Mailboxes Etc., when the Outlaws anounce a 7 channel, fewer watt amp coming soon. That put the skids on the 755 and I'm still looking at the hole I have in my rack, but so is life.

I hope Marc is every bit as pleased with his 1050 as I have been with mine. Dave Matthews' concert is playing on it now in the other room.

Take care.

Thanks to Gonk for helping to start the repopulation of my entertainment center. His 1050 fits in there nicely. He also set me up with some of his old cables. I have been using out-of-the-box cables with my 15-year-old Pioneer receiver. The combination of the new cables and cleaner amp makes my 14-year-old Pioneer cartridge CD changer and equally old AAL speakers sound like they have never sounded before. Since I got the audio/video bug and have been auditioning mid to high-end equipment, I can really hear what is missing from my old system. By the time I'm done with the new system, I'll be able to feel what is missing from my wallet! The changer and the speakers will be in the attic by next weekend - I am
expecting a pair of pretty respectable main speakers and a nice DVD changer on my doorstep this week. By the end of next weekend I should be able to comment on the sweet sounds of the 1050. Then comes the new amp and the new dipole surrounds and the new high-mass speaker stands and the new speaker wire and the new subwoofer…… and the new... and the new... Yikes!

For now, the 1050 gets two thumbs up for making the rest of my my pitfull equipment sound nice - even if only for a week. At the end of the weekend, I'll post again with second impressions of the 1050 - this time with good equipment on the input and output ends.

Gonk - Just in case your curious - I saw the eBay item first and then ran to the Saloon to check for a FS post. It was only then that I realized (thanks to Bill in Texas) that the eBay auction was yours. I’ve been searching E-Bay for a 1050 for a few weeks. I got luck on Friday. Thanks for the smooth transaction. I enjoyed the quick listen to your system!

Oh man, does this every bring back (so recent) memories. I too have caught the bug for all the upgrades and I have my wife to thank for it. Two years ago "she" started it all by giving me a DVD player for Christmas. Last year I got a 36" Sony XBR to go with it, then a 1050 for my christmas present to myself, the wife gave me a Sony universal-master remote that's the coolest thing since ice cream. Then, in January I added 7 Paridigm reference studio speakers to round things out. I'm in heaven, but you know what? I'm seriously looking at the 950/? combo to push my system to my next level of enlightenment. When will it ever end? Never I hope!

Enjoy that 1050 Marc. I'm sure as you add your upgrades you'll enjoy it even more. It's a winner!

Take care and play it loud.

And Gonk.....You owe me a beer. heh

Next time I'm headed toward Texas, I'll let you know, Bill. Or if you happen through Memphis first, of course.

You bet gonk. Let's see, the last time I was in TN? Never.

Boy, am I going to take us off the 1050 subject, but as a child I lived in Germany, Greece and Okinawa. I have spent the better part of my 48 years right here in the Austin area and have only seen 6 of our beautiful states. This leads me to believe that I really ought to get out more. Who knows, this meeting may just take place. And of course, you know my door is always open. One of these days I'm going to slow down, quit taking care of 2 places (home and ranch), get out and see the good ole USA. Hopefully in this lifetime.

Oh my! Now my itch is turning from the 950/? to traveling. I think it would be quite interesting to do a tour and meet up with some of you. Sit down, talk systems, see some of yours and see some of the country side at the same time. I also shoot sporting clays (shotgun sport) competively and would love to shoot other clubs around the country as well. Man, that would be a hoot! Maybe in a year or so. I promised the wife a house this year out at the ranch. If I can get this done and only have one place to take care of, we may just do this tour. Looking forward to it! Come on Lotto!

Until then my friends.
