I am looking at purchasing the 950/770 combo with Axiom speakers. My room is 24 X 16 with my listening position in the middle. My question is will the 950 give me the flexibility to choose a pair of direct radiating surrounds (Axiom M22)mounted on the back wall for DVD-A and SACD and then when I want to watch 5.1 movies, select my side-wall mounted QS8 "quadpolar" surrounds? Can I achieve this internally with the 950 or do I have to use an external switching box? Also with this setup, how would you go about watching 6.1 movies. Please help.

Hello Dannic.

First, the 950 does not internally support switching between surround back speakers and surrounds. You would need to do something externally.

As for 6.1 movies (Dolby EX, DTS ES), it is very straightforward. It is a simple matter of turning the processing (Dolby EX, DTS ES, Dolby+Cirrus Extra Surround, or DTS+Cirrus Extra Surround) on or off from the remote. If you haven't done so already, a quick look through the 950's manual may help you with your buying decision.
