I am setting up a 'whole house' audio system for my parents. The brains of the system is a Niles 4630 - a 4 source, 12X30W Receiver.

The sources will connect to the Niles via Stereo RCA.

My question is this - does it make sense to spend $40 on each of these cables from Blue Jeans Cable (I need 5 of them) or should I just get them from Radio Shack for $6.99 each?

For some reason I feel like these Stereo RCA outputs/inputs are already such 'low quality' that I shouldn't mess with 'higher end' cables.

For a whole-house system like that, I'd probably opt for Radio Shack (or MonoPrice, although their cheapest cables are flimsier than I'd like) rather than Blue Jeans.

Thanks Gonk. After I saw the $200+ price at Blue Jeans, I thought it was a bit overkill. The speakers are all modest sized in-ceiling speakers.

Then I saw the $6.99 radio shack cables (that were actually longer than the ones I spec'd) and had a hard time justifying the Blue Jeans...

Not that gonk's excellent points ever need further validation, but I totally agree. For a system such as that where it's more for background music than critical listening, save your money.
