I an considering ordering the ICBM - currently I am using 4 Aperion Audio 522D-LR speakers and a center(Aperion)channel with frequency response of 80hz to 20 Khz. The Aperion sub is a 10" powered at 25hz to 160hz. Marantz SR4500 receiver allows only 80, 100, and 120 crossover(now set to 80 with sub crossover turned up all the way 160.

DVD-Audio and SACD bass seems to be centered in the center speaker. Samsung HD950 player is cheap and only allows for small/large speaker setup with no crossover ability.

Would the ICBM be a good match to aid in the bass management of my system?

Room dimensions are 11 x 20 x 8 with open beam ceiling and one regular sized door opening. My system is set up using about 12 feet of the length of romm due to the door placement.

Thanks for the advice.

just my two cents, but yes the icbm is a great addition to a system, i recently added one, and it helps by letting you set the crossover for your fronts, center and surounds seperately, I have my fronts set to 60 my center set to 80 and my surrounds set to 100, it's worth it,and I think you have 30 days to see if it works for you.

Thanks for the reply. So if I can then set my crossovers for SACD and DVD-Audio, say to 80 for each speaker, would the result then be the same sound I would get if listening to a DTS or Dolby digital recording, where the receiver is already doing the bass management? These 2 formats sound too bassy or boomy to me, perhaps my bass management is incorrect for these.

Thanks

my understanding of the icbm is that you can set each set of speakers different, what it does is, you would set the crossover on say for example your fronts have a good size woofer or say two 8's, you might set the crossover at 60, say your center has one 5 1/4 or 6 inch woofer you might set that to 80 or 100 and so forth, what is does is lets you set the crossovers so that a speaker that can't or won't handle big bass is not really fed big bass, I had mine between my player and reciever, than I got the 7125 and now have it between the reciever and the amp and it seems to be a great help.hope I answered your question.
