If I were to switch one of my ICBM settings to BYPASS, does that mean that all the bass present will be directed to that speaker and no bass will be shunted off to the subwoofer? Or am I totally confused?

It sounds like you've got the right idea. "Bypass" disables the crossover for that channel - when set to that, the signal will be passed straight to the speaker without redirecting any bass.
