This ICBM rocks. It's like a new system. I now have my 1050 permanently set to the direct input. The bass is rock solid. My center speaker no longer shakes and all of the speakers produce much better sound at the high volumes. I use the dts and dd decoding in my technics dvd-a10 for movies also and it is just awesome.
It sounds so good, i think that the high res stereo might even sound better than the 6 channel.

Great review for the ICBM. It is, however, not a great commentary on the internal processing of your 1050. That's that value of having those pre-amp inputs in a $500 receiver. I also notice a difference using the direct inputs, as opposed to the internal processing, with regular stereo CDs. However, I still like the internal processing for movies...it may just be the sixth channel option.

Umm...one little thing...I can't figure out the center channel not shaking thing.... but if it works...

The center channel shake was at very high volume. It was caused by too much bass going into it and causing the speaker to vibrate.
You can still use the 6th channel in direct input mode.
i sometimes enjoy the 6th channel but I find that it takes too much away from the l/r surrounds. Even if I raise the level of the l/r surrounds, they still do not pack the punch that they do when in 5 channel mode.

Using the 6th channel mode with the direct inputs uses the 1050's DSP which is what you are bypassing when using the decoder inside of your DVD player. That would be why you get less "punch" when you use it. Again, it's the difference in the sound quality between the decoder in your Technics and the the decoder in the 1050.
