is it just me or it sounds like there is a hum coming from the front of the 755 when powered up? or is that a ground loop problem ?

thanks!

Here's a thread from the 7100 saloon that may interest you:

I don't know if the final solution in this thread is neccesarily the only way to fix the hum. I bet the unit mentioned fixes some electrical problem that's inherent in the wiring of that house. Just first try to rule out all other possibilities before investing in a quick fix like that. Also, I've never read anything about the 755 having a hum. Good Luck!

I had an Outlaw 755 that had an intermittent transformer hum. I spoke with Outlaw Tech Support twice about the problem and received the same answer each time -- "your power company either has a low or high voltage problem and their is nothing we can do about the problem." I returned the unit under warranty. Outlaw's claim was that their specification states that the power input must be 115 volts + or - 3%. Well, neither 110 volts nor 120 volts is within that range and I believe that most power systems will see one of those voltages at some time and by Outlaw's own addmission you can expect intermittent transformer hum.

BTW transformer hum is not a ground loop problem.

thanks for doclb for the info, i confirmed your thoughts after looking at the 755's specs.

i was lookin around on APC's website about line conditioners etc, there is a line regulator that seems that it will regulate at 117V +/- 5% do you think that it that should be sufficient? its $75 might be worth a shot...
