Has anyone listened to this this DVD in both DTS and DDS and compared the two?

The DTS version seems a bit "sharper" or "brght". the DDS sounds more natural. This could just be my ears, but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same about DDS vs. DTS.

Nevertheless, the DVD is great for running your system through it's paces. Are there any more DVD concert performances that you all can recommend?

Thanks!

PhatLac.

I like the Rush in Rio DVD. If you are a Rush fan then this is a MUST have.

Peter Frampton Live in Detroit and Steely Dan - Two against Nature are good ones. Steely Dan will give your sub a workout as well as the surrounds.

Thanks for the suggestions on live music. I think I will grab the Steely Dan.

Thanks!

i am in favor of dts, hands down over dolby digital. i base my opinion from experience with movies mostly, but a few dts music discs. i think that 9/10 times dolby digital lacks the umph that dts offers, plus the center channel is MUCH better with dts. matrix2 was good for dolby digital though and a few others have been pretty good. if i had a choice, i would listen to dts every time though, plus it is compressed less...

Darn! I almost forgot my first music dvd - "Standing in the Shadows of Motown".

Okay, it was marketed as a movie, BUT, the music is just outstanding. I would comment in detail on the quality of the recording, but with my singing along on the tracks, the sound is definitely distorted a bit!

The sound is actually very, very good on this one.

Thanks again,

PhatLac.

I don't know if that is supposed to be a witty retort or just a normal post. :-)

I prefer DTS as well, not that dd sounds bad but I think DTS just adds a lttle something. Some of my favorite music DVD's are Elton John one night only, Bad Company Merchants of cool, Joe Satriani live in SanFrancisco to name a few...

I'll go with the Steely Dan suggestions, two against nature is a great disc, but to answer the original question, I seem to like the Dolby D on the Santana disc. The DTS is just too bright on my system (horn tweeters perhaps) although I agree that the frequency range is much better with DTS. Either way you go, the Supernatural disc is a must have.
As far as a recommendation, I like Stevie Ray Vaughn - Live at Montreux. The first disc is good, but the second disc of the set kicks major hiney.

Are you using titanium compression driver for your horn throat? I found titanium sounds pretty bright at high volume, especially the “ess” sound. I use two SELENIUM ST324 Phenolic mini horn tweeters in every speakers. They sound much smoother.
