Hey everyone.. Been waiting patiently for the 999, but in the meantime, what are you using for your center and surrounds?

I have a Onyko 797 that I am using as a preamp, an Outlaw 7200 amp, Audio Physic Sparks up front, with an Aperion Sub, Center, and Surrounds.

Im considering the Outlaw Center, and bookshelves with an LFM sub, but would like to hear what is working for all of you. I would want something that would match the imaging and transparency of the Sparks (which is absolutely awesome).

Thanks in advance

I'm using the Quad L for my center, which is a direct match to my mains. For surrounds, I'm using a pair of Wharfedale bipole speakers, which have the same lineage as the Quads (Quad and Wharefdale are owned by the same parent company.) So the sonic signature is pretty consistent throughout the surround envelope.

To that point, there is a school of thought that all the speakers be matched so that the sonic characteristics are similar and there is some unifmormity in the sound across the entire surround filed.

In my experience, I think the most critical match is first and foremost between the mains and center -- so the entire front soundstage is well integrated. From there, some mixing and matching of the surrounds / rear surrounds is not a big deal. And certainly not an issue for the subwoofer.

Thanks,

I agree.. I think the only reason I haven't looked at Audiophysic for the rest of the speakers is because they are so expensive!

Maybe I'll check out Audiogon a bit more. I got the Sparks used for 1/3 their price in mint condition, but haven't had much luck finding a center channel.

Many people have assembled great systems at considerable savings by using Audiogon. I'm getting ready to post a bunch of used equipment over there myself.

Good luck finding your center!
