I am still researching them on my own, but was wondering how the Perreaux 6160 would fare against the Outlaw line, and if anyone out there has had experience with the two.

6 channels at 160 watts each for 5000 euros. For that kind of money I would be comparing the Perreaux to an EarthQuake Cinenova . For the $6,000.00 american you would spend on the Perreaux you could have an Outlaw 990 Pre/Pro; a Model 7700 seven x 200w amp, a Velodyme SMS-1 Parametric Equalizer, two LFM-1 sub woofers and an extra $1604.00 bucks in your pocket. Now you know why were here.

Thanks MG.

I should have mentioned, though, that the unit is used and the price is under $1,500.

I serviced stereo systems at my old place of employment that used Perreaux amplifiers. At least for the stereo versions, they're a well made product that are pretty close to reference quality. What you have to think about is do you want to new amplifier from Outlaw, backed by some great customer service, or a used amplifier that, while being able to thereotically give you better performance, could break down in your possession? I mention this because we did have a Perreaux malfunction at my old job and it was a real pain to get replacement parts to get it fixed. Just my observation...

Thanks Jason.

The more I thought it about it today, the more that same argument entered my head (new and warrantied for 5 years as opposed to not new and warrentied for 90 days). Plus, the speakers I have ordered are pretty efficient (91 dB), and when I last heard them, they were connected to an 80 watt amp. They were more than loud enough with the volume at about 1/3 of the dial's range - I think 160 watts would be overkill.
