Having recently acquired an LG LST-3410A digital tuner/DVR and a Mitsubishi HS-HD2000U, I've read a number of items on some forums saying money can be save by using SVHS tapes rather than DVHS tapes for HD recordin. I've been using Sony VXST SVHS tapes for quite a while now with my analog VCR's, and get them for about $6.00 apiece. According to the info in the DVCR manual, recording in HD yields only half the time named on the cassette. That comes out to about $6.00/hr. I can get a five hour DVHS tape (good for 2 1/2 hours of HD) for about $10.80, which works out to about $4.30/hr. Why would I want to use an SVHS tape?
