Hi Guys. Well I finally got my HT hooked up , calibrated and etc. And I am finding that while it sounds ok in some respects I am getting a lot distortion from movie soundtracks-particularly on scenes with explosions etc. I put in U-571 expecting to be rocked and came away so disappointed.
The explosions sound like papery thin noise in my speakers. I have Polk LSI speakers all around and the surrounds are less than a month old. (LSI FX and LCI In ceiling- have to update sig.)

I don't know what I am doing wrong. My gear is certainly pretty decent. Everything is calibrated and I have situated each speaker to where it sounds the best in the room. Is the distortion more a problem with the speakers or electronics? This is driving me nuts. TIA

I was getting really bad distortion on a couple of CD's when I first installed my outlaw gear. It ultimately turned out to be a bad transport. I replaced the DVD player and everything was hunky dory.

Cheers,

Thanks. Maybe I will sub another and double check it. I am running a Denon 2910 right now.

Did this just start? Or has the edition of the in-wall speakers created a problem?

Make sure your speaker connections are clean and in phase. Did you use Avia or Video Essentials to do your calibration? The audio calibration files on Avia will really help you dial in the sound and expose any problems.

yes, definitely check speaker polarity, i remember in another post you said you were running one of your subs out of phase(that would account for thin sound),after you double check speaker polarity try it with both subs in phase.

Nut, I really hate to ask this question as I know it is a really stupid one. But, How loud are you cranking this thing up? It almost sounds like the amp is being tapped out by the current demands of high impact action sequences. While such things as dialog and background sounds are other wise fine. Right? I know you are running the 770 and that is why this is such a stupid question. But, I gotta ask.
