Why am I listening to DVD-Audio (Yes DVD-Audio, not DVD-Video) on my computer, but I don't even have the capability to do so on my HT setup? confused

Are you actually decoding DVD-A, or is it downmixed to Dolby Digital? I don't recall hearing about a card that supports DVD-A, but since I haven't checked out the sound card market much in a while so it's entirely possible that I'm behind the times on that.

Creative cards support DVD-Audio. Support started with the Audigy 2 series of cards, which is now about two years old.

Yes, that's the type of cound card I have. One software program that came with it is a DVD-Audio specific player. I'm quite certain it's DVD-A because of the Blue Man disc. DD51.1 & DTS option on one side and DVD-A on the other. Linkin Park's Reanimation is the other disk I'm using. Yeah, I need more discs. I can't help but feel something is wrong with me because of this setup.

Umm...perhaps I'm just dense...but why can't you listen to DVD-A on your HT setup?

Cheers,

Nifty. Have you got a 5.1 speaker setup on your PC?

Cheers,
Because I don't have a DVD-A player on the HT setup. :p Eventually.

Yes. The Klipsch setup. I'm pretty impressed with the sound I get out of it. The difference in the various sound card upgrades was quite noticable along with getting the DVD's in, vs CDs and mp3s. Logitech didn't have any of their bad-boy setups available back when I bought these.

Oh yeah, I just use a basic Sony DVD drive in there right now to play them. It also worked for another drive that eventually went bad for unrelated issues. I can't wait to get it onto the HT setup, but that only has a front stage.

Ahhh....well, get thee to the order page and get yourself a 990, a 7125, and then go on a speaker shopping spree. And then when you're done with all that, pick up a DVD-A player. 8-)
